SPORT PHONES
Well designed sport headphones should satisfy the music lover and athlete alike. In my own experience, common earbud designs fall out of my ear while I jog and the audio quality is inferior to that of over ear headphone designs. On the other hand, common over ear headphone designs generate excessive sweat and heat for active individuals.
I've identified 3 key areas for improving headphones for active lifestyles.
1 Breathable and lightweight material design
2 Over ear design that is adequately secure over the user's head for jogging and other aerobic exercise
3 World class audio quality and easy access controls for volume and track selection
Below are rough ideation sketches of some options. For this design I preferred a unibody style design with minimal cladding. With a flexible and lightweight unibody design, any sweat or dirt collected on the sport phones will be easily cleaned away and there is little stress about maintaining the headphones for long-term active use.
Additional requirements for active lifestyles include wireless connectivity, quick charge internal battery for life on the go, and foldable design for easy storage.
