Pedestrian Shopping Transport Trolley

During a team project at University, we selected the Theme Area of 'Shopping' to try to improve by either designing a new product or redesigning an existing product.

We wanted to be aim to persuade people to walk to and from the shops more but understand the inconvenience of carrying all the shopping can be off-putting and people opt for vehicles. We conclusively opted for the colloquially termed 'granny trolley'.

We took some inspiration from existing shopping trolleys and from another occasion people are familiar with whereby they have to walk with a large quantity of items; holiday travelling. In the vast majority of cases users opt for pull-along equipment to aid them in transporting their belongings.

We also identified that people suffer from being unable to access other areas of the holder whilst in use and oftentimes the items at the bottom are stuck there until you empty the unit entirely.

Our design has 3 individual compartments to separate your items and provide easy access to all items. There is a kick-stand to hold the unit at an angle when accessing; a securing strap incase the users hand slips and hooks on the sides incase any items require hanging externally.

The unit is constructed of lightweight aluminium and a neoprene fabric to be weather resistant and waterproof.

Happy Shopping!
