David Otero - 1980 Lyric Videos (Sony Music)

VHS tapes with a contemporary twist.
Lyric videos for the new album “1980” were made for David Otero. known as “El Pescao”: a Spanish singer, guitarist, and songwriter, formerly belonging to the pop group El Canto Del Loco. .
___ client: Sony Music Entertainment España is a music publishing company based in Madrid, operating as a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment. ___ project: Three lyric videos were made to promote David Otero’s new album “1980”. The album is a collection of songs that works as a tribute to the brightest side of the 80s and, of course, the lyrics were inspired by the representative VHS and TV-show aesthetic of that decade. We wanted to give the same look and feel to all videos by recreating the lyrics like VHS tapes, but using different backgrounds to get a different mood for each video: “Cuando ya no estás” used images of the artist recreating pictures of him as a kid, as well as other personal film photographs of him floating in a 3D environment; “Baile” is an explosion of colourful dancing dots and patterns carefully created from the idea of bringing the braille language closer to a big audience; and “Gira” is a mix of videos and custom-made 80s-inspired graphics of turning objects in order to support the lyrics of the video.
