The Williams Formula 1 Racing Team was founded in 1977 by Sir Frank Williams. In 2006, AT&T became the title sponsor of the team, presenting the challenge of creating a new identity to unify two existing marks, AT&T and Williams. To approach this, I referenced aerial photography of actual Formula 1 race tracks, acknowledging the unique contours throughout. I designed a flexible stylized system that twists and turns to encapsulate both marks, thus developing a new one. The system of lanes has the ability to contort to an extreme horizontal version, or break away for secondary graphic use.
