The assignment is to create an A3 poster in Adobe Illustrator, paying homage to any choice. I chose Grease my favourite musical film.
The design question require us to construct a poster homage whether it is a movie, an influential person, a game and some sort. My poster is a homage to the 1978 iconic movie played by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John’s Grease.
The concept of the poster is Danny apologizes to Sandy with her iconic pose with her hands on her hips and hands on her leather jacket on her shoulder. Danny always makes mistakes to Sandy, the man kneeling down saying sorry towards Sandy. As Sandy is stepping onto Danny’s addiction to cigarette. Sandy, with her iconic pose by putting her left hand on her hips and the other on her leather jacket on her shoulder. She also poses to the side by putting her leg out showing her being a fierce woman.
The "Sorry" demonstrates the typographic element where it helps to strengthen the concept, and for the audience who are not familiar with the movie. They will understand the male is asking for an apology from the female.
I intentionally made Sandy bigger than Danny that is highly exaggerated to show that Sandy has the authority and power over Danny. Sandy takes a higher position that shows women empowerment.
