3D Mirrored Drone POP Display

Having done some work for a client that sold drone services to map out terrain for approximate densities I went about creating a display for my own drone in order to showcase some ideas we could incorporate into future projects for the client. So, I went about printing a photographic image of a cloud layer from above looking down on it as if in a plane (or drone). I then placed this print into a brace that allowed me to heat only the center portion. Thus, I was able to leave the outer most ½ inch all the way around flat in order to inset and adhere into the recessed base. After thermoforming the clouds into a 3D landscape, the new dimensional aspect really made them come alive (wasn’t able to capture that as well as I’d hoped with the photography here). I also wanted to make this new “skyscape” extend even further as the viewer looks at the display and create a sense of connection with the piece as well. This was done by directly printing the backdrop on a piece of mirrored acrylic.  Not only does is extend the cloud layer, but it ties in the surrounding environment into the piece – the viewer sees the drone, the logo, the clouds and then themselves. The dimensional aspect also offers a tactile experience. I could also see this piece as a POP display for marketing the drone. Thanks for looking!
