Shapes of the Procession

The year was 1961 and the priest Francisco Fernández, who belonged to the Franciscan order, was looking for an image that would connect with the faith of the people of Quito.
He observed that in the San Francisco de Quito church, a sculpture of Jesus of Nazareth, which was designed in the 17th century, by a father whose only name is known, Carlos.
Since then, every Holy Friday, the sculpture crosses the streets of the Historic Center of Quito to remember the death of Jesus; accompanied by more than 100,000 faithful.
The cornets and are one of the main characters of this pilgrimage that walk covered with a purple suit, which keeps them anonymous.

Other people also perform a penance during Holy Week. That is why there are those who carry out the procession barefoot or carry metal chains with their ankles, wear a crown of thorns on their heads, carry crosses; recreating the suffering of Jesus during the Calvary

Since I was a little girl my dream was to be able to capture with my lens this date, this act of faith.
