Moon Invader Vector Watch

I recreated a watch using Adobe Illustrator. Only vectors are used in this. On the left is the actual Image and on the right is the image I designed. This process was a lot of things but easy wasn't one of them. I knew going in that I would need to spend a lot of time on this because my Icons really crept up on me and I wasn't able to do as much as I would've liked with them. I started very early and actually changed the watch I was going to do from a Paul Newman Daytona Rolex to the one you see now. I started just making the shapes that I saw. This was a very intimidating project but I heard that as long as I just keep making what I see, eventually it will look good. After I made all the shapes I saw, I went in and started making the shadows and the shine on the objects. this was probably the most fun. It was definitely a learning curve but I enjoyed seeing how everything started to look realistic. once I got to the textures, things we down hill fast. My computer slowed wayyyyy down and simple actions that should take 2 seconds now took 4 minutes. Even the Mac Pro couldn't handle it. Image tracing textures would immediately crash the program. I had to make much lower resolution images in order to do it. all of the textures are the same pattern repeated. All in all I'm very happy with the watch and I am extremely happy that I'm done with it.
