Spirit Beach Umbrella

Two aspects immediately attract the attention of people who see the product for the first time. The fact that the sunshade opens inside out, which is virtually unheard-of, and the helicoidal tip, created to facilitate and improve setting-up.In strong winds, any sunshade turns inside out, right? So why not produce it that way, since its purpose is to protect the user from the sun and not from the rain?

Sunshades that take off along the beach at the first gust of wind do so for a simple reason: their link to the sand is tenuous at best. You can test this affirmation by using only two fingers to dislodge any sunshade anchored into the sand. It’s incredibly easy. Consequently, the idea of using a screw-type fitting on the lower tip of the staff is self-evident! Well, perhaps we should say: It seems to be quite selfevident.

After months of research, design, production and practical testing of different concepts for screws and threads, we finally arrived at the perfect option for auguring into the sand.
The final prototype — made of sinterized steel and developed from a 3D design — worked perfectly. The only problem was that, from the cost aspect, the tip had to be produced in a plastic material! The helicoid was again redesigned, this time taking into account all the limitations inherent to the injection process. Eight prototypes were prepared and
tested before we arrived at the final product.
