New signage for Sofia Metro

The new maps, we developed for Sofia Metro are currently being installed on the station platforms. We managed to convince the Metro Authority that the horizontal layout is more practical and user-friendly. The result: almost all metro stations had their maps repositioned alongside the design update.

All maps feature a detailed map of Sofia's public transport, area map - showing the surroundings of the metro station, tourist map - featuring the most popular tourist attractions, museums, galleries and sites in the city's centre, a transit map of Sofia Metro, list of all public transport connections available from the station and the Metro's timetable.

The largest and busiest stations - Serdica, National Palace of Culture, Sofia University Sveti Kliment Ohridski and Central Railway Station also feature a navigational scheme of the station, showing all passages, starts, lifts, ticket halls etc.
The public transport map features all bus (red), tram (orange) and trolleybus (light blue) lines within the city, overlaid atop a detailed map, showing all streets, buildings, parks, neighbourhoods and industrial complexes of Sofia.

The transfer stations of the Metro are shown in bubbles, holding information regarding the transfer time required to reach one platform from the other.
The tourist information utilises pictograms of the most prominent tourist attractions and places of interest. The map also shows the location of other interesting churches, temples, museums, galleries and archeological sites in relation to the metro stations' locations.
The vicinity map is now bigger: it shows larger area around the metro station and also it has far more useful information included: ministries, courts, municipal offices, shopping centres, schools, kindergartens and nurseries. New feature is the enumeration and naming of all metro station exits, making finding your way out to the proper place easier for everyone.

The map also shows the location of ground public transport stops as yellow circles with green border and Latin letters, thus avoiding confusion with the exits' enumeration.
The transit map of Sofia Metro simplifies its squiggly lines in simple to read and memorise "London-tube-styled" map. Our greatest pride in this new feature is the complete deprecation of the outdated and confusing notion of the "metro diameter". No more! The term is dead. From now on all Metro maps will refer to the actual routes the trains run on as "lines".

One route = one line. One Metro, two route visuals is dead! Cheers!
The public transport connections are presented in a table, featuring the number (Latin letter) of the stops as displayed in the Area map, the closest (and/or more convenient) exit and a full list of the lines and their terminus.
Sofia Metro's timetable is also a table, sporting the periods (mornings, rush hours, evenings etc) and the corresponding interval between trains.
The navigational scheme are a wonderful and easy way to represent the complex network of passages, stairs, exits, lift, platform direction etc. The scheme shows all and any tourist services
