A little pet project i made while learning how to use Unity3D. Started it on August 2017, i abandoned it to pursue other projects and picked it up again on July/August 2018 to wrap it up with all i've learned in that year.
Update: ported to HTC vive on november 2018, more on that at the end of the page.

The sprites and sounds are all rips from the original game, found on The Sprites Resource and such, edited by me on photoshop and audacity.

I used Unity 5.5, GVR 0.6 (since it's the only one that works with my Samsung S3 mini) with several modifications to allow movement with a joystick, an auto walk button in case you don't have one, and i've made all the scripts that handle the duck movement, the sprite animations, showing and saving score, and the UI that shows how many ducks are killed/missed

As for the difficulty curve, since i have no way to measure the actual speed of the ducks in the original game, i simply increased the values for the movement of the ducks as it felt right to me. By level 10 it gets pretty hard as in the original game.
After getting an HTC vive i decided to port what i made for mobile. Updated to Unity 2018 (which makes VR development much easier than the previously used 5.5), ditched GVR (cardboard) for SteamVR. Had to create my own raycaster, triggers and events (onEnter, onExit and such) since steamVR apparently didn't have those features (??)
the gun is no longer the center of the screen, as i made for mobile (pretty awkward..) but a 3D model of a NES zapper. carefully set so the bullet (or raycast, to be more accurate) matches the (virtual) gun's sight.
You can walk around and the score decreases the more you get closer to the ducks, so basically the game punishes you for it, which i'm sure the original game would've done to the point-blank shooters. I didn't include teleportation as there's not much room to move anyways.

Next, a gameplay video. I would love to share it but you know nintendo...
