Hortus is the latin word for “garden,” and one of the roots of the word “Horticulture.” I took this as my inspiration to design a line of products for the urban gardener. I wanted to create smaller-scale gardening products that are well suited to growing plants indoors or on small balconies. 

The packaging design strives to create a balance between a clean, modern look and a traditional English conservatory or apothecary feel. I focused on a tie back to the scientific aspects of gardening, including scientific names of plants, botanical illustrations, and lots of information about chemical makeups of fertilizers/pesticides. The products include seed packets, potted plants, bulbs, potting soil, fertilizer, and pesticide.
