The Challenge: The original project required me to choose a typeface and disassemble letters into the 21 different parts of type (such as the bowl, stroke, stem, etc.) to create a set of three symbols that shared an overall theme. However, I wanted to consider it in a more specific application that would befit the characteristics of the typeface.
The Solution: I developed my type bits into three different mythological creatures: a griffin, a hippocampus, and a phoenix, all of which had unifying counterparts. I created a series of wine called “Mythology” from these symbols, inspired by elegant wine bottles and their partially transparent labels.
