This project was completed during my education at University of Cincinnati Blue Ash.
The project: To create a faux spread in a Rolling Stone magazine focused on a celebrity figure. The last page of the spread is an ad for Sharpie permanent markers.
I chose the band PVRIS to feature. The copy consists of various articles compiled together, as the mockup did not need to contain a full-length article. (Typography and composition was to be focused on, however.)
During this project, I was highly encouraged to utilize more color, however I wanted to remain within the aesthetic of the band I was design around. At the time, all promotional materials, photos, and music videos were produced strictly in black & white, and I felt it best to maintain that pattern.
Instead of color, I decided to use a smoke texture behind the articles to pay homage to one of their first hit singles "Smoke".
