For this Project I was able to create a process book for a legendary designer. I focused on his Typeface Family called "Avenir." He is a Swiss artist and created this popular typeface in 1988. A fun fact is that the word "Avenir" means "Future" in French. 

     

     The typeface"Avenir" was inspired by the font "futura." He describes this typeface as a geometric san serif. Frutiger's intentions is to convey the idea of timelessness in the style and form of his letters. 

      The typeface "Avenir" is not purely geometric; it has vertical strokes that are thicker than the horizontals, an “o” that is not a perfect circle, and shortened ascenders. These nuances aid in legibility and give Avenir a harmonious and sensible appearance for both texts and headline.
