LUMA Architectural and Exhibit Signage

LUMA—Architectural and Exhibit Signage

Date: 2007

Description: Signage in concert with a completely new museum space and a new brand identity.

Background: Loyola was moving their art museum from the Rogers Park campus to their building, just off
Michigan Avenue at the old Water Tower.

Carol Layton, another Creative Director at Bagby, designed the new logo, business cards, folders, brochures, a newsletter and more.

The Architectural Signage:
I designed all the signs for the facility—exterior and interior. For the much of the interior signage I worked
with a an existing system available from ASI and customized almost everything about it including color, finish, typography, logo treatment and changeable, exhibit specific images.

The Exhibit Specific Signage:
In preparation for the opening of the new museum space and LUMA’s first exhibit—Caravaggio: Una Mostra Impossibile, Carol Layton designed light pole banners and a catalog for the exhibit. Working with Carol, I designed the signage for the exhibit itself including a free-standing, curved introduction wall and everything else down to the identification graphics for each painting.
