Overview.
Willy Ronis was a photographer from Paris working from the 1940’s to 2001. He is best known for his lyrical black-and-white photographs of courting couples, busy street scenes and children at play that lent a gentle but enduring mystique to postwar, working-class Paris. He wandered around the streets of Paris looking for moments of serendipity to find him and it usually did. His work focused on the lives of everyday Parisians and is often praised for his humanistic approach. Willy Ronis died in 2009 at the age of 99 but his work lives on as a briefimmortal moment caught by the click of a camera.
