These are two of my favourite illustrative pieces that I have worked on in recent years.

For the first piece, I was commissioned to illustrate Donald Draper from 'Mad Men' in my own style, this  was the first time I had created a digital piece using Illustrator, before then I primarily used Photoshop to do all of my works.

I have a particularly unusual style of "painting" in Illustrator, and while the process is longer than other methods, for me, it is the most fun and expressive way to design a piece. Everything you see in the Donald Draper illustration has been coloured using strokes of the paintbrush, progressively building upon layers to give the illusion of a paint bucket tool being using. The outline for this piece looks tremendously complex, but I love how it turned out.

The second piece, the Lion's Head design, was a concept I came up for a small business that I had founded, called 'Rising Waters'. The initial intention was to use this design for a t-shirt, but I also saw the potential in it being used for a decorative print piece.

For the design I went for the contrast of black and white to really emphasise the polarities of the artwork, I did a lot of intriquite work to get the desired look and I am very happy with how this design turned out. Initially I had designed this piece and finished it, then came back to it a second time round, this is the most up to date version of the design, which got rid of a lot of clutter from the previous interpretation.
