Task: Movie Poster Parody

This task requires us to demonstrate our skills in using Photoshop, creating a parody movie poster.
The poster selected is “The Boy in Striped Pajamas”, a poster that has quite a large amount of blue background, with greens at the bottom, nothing too complex to manipulate.

The use of clone stamp tool and patch tool were predominant in erasing the words and actors from the poster. Since the title and the subsequent tagline(s) were surrounded by the sky, I mostly used clone stamp tool and patch tool while I used the lasso tool on the actors to erase them and cloned the background. The wordings needed to match the font used in the poster, and since it seemed like a generic serif font, I used a pre-downloaded font available.

The replacement photo to be inserted to the poster had different colour, so adjustments were made to the brightness/contrast, levels, curves, vibrance and hue/saturation. They were generally darkened/lowered and desaturated to blend in. I created a clipping mask so that they were applied only to the bananas and will not disrupt the background. The dodge tool and burn tool were also utilized to bring necessary shadows and highlights that matched the setting. Using the color replacement tool, the blue stripes on the pajamas of the bananas (initially a bright blue) had to be replaced to a more suitable blue and the yellow skin as well replaced to a more desaturated yellow.
