Bawang

The customary package of Chinese hair product is always similar and obsolete. I would like to rethink the possibility of packaging this traditional hair product brand with a fresh perspective. Bawang offer Shampoo with Chinese Herbal Extracts. This project redefined Chinese herbal medicine in contemporary context and promoted its brand image to cater for the trendy lifestyle of young female customers. Bawang targeted wider market in Asia and expand target audiences to younger circle. I hope to enhance brand image to be more fashionable and more modern. Due to the fake news before, This project helped to rebuild trust of the brand.

In this design, I was inspired by 1920 old shanghai qipao’s pattern as Bawang was established in 1928. I integrate the auspicious images in Chinese traditional culture with contemporary vibrant color palette to create a new Chinese design with new energy. I highlighted the Chinese herbal ingredients of the three series of shampoo to merge traditional Floral qipao patterns and create new designs for Bawang. This series has been designed with both traditional spirit and contemporary expression. Other work completed during the rebrand included a billboards, website, social media promotions, brand guidelines and environment.
