Baskerville URW Typeface Specimen Book
The purpose of this assignment was to create a typographic book that represented the typeface Baskerville URW. Baskerville in its most basic category is a classical font. The word ‘classical’ always reminds me of classical Greek
and Roman sculptures. So, I narrowed it down to female marble statues and built a design influenced by them. I
found that even in sculpture, forms that are in typography can be found.
I used marble statue imagery and found, through the curves and carvings, that art imitates life. I found letters in
their forms and highlighted those. While at the same time, highlighting the anatomy and uses of Baskerville URW,
in its many forms.
