Escargots en Provence
I was lucky enough to study in Lacoste, France Spring of 2017 which has been a huge inspiration to my artwork. I was in Lacoste when all of the flowers came into bloom which is the theme for this project. I have chosen the London based textile company, House of Hackney, to be the company that I am creating this pattern to be for. House of Hackney was founded in 2011 and creates bold, statement patterns that connect with a new generation, mixing iconic design with style and functionality. Their designs have a vintage feel to them that come through no matter what the pattern is applied to, from interiors to clothing. I have drawn inspiration from the photos I took of these flowers while I was in Provence. While being whimsical but bold at the same time I have drawn inspiration from looking at small ditzy patterns as well as bigger, bold patterns.
