Corsetry Project - Architectural Inspiration

My corset was inspiration started with the architecture at the Museum of art and science in Valencia, which then developed on to large scale steel structures such as Gordell Bank.
I played around with lines, both sharp geometric straights and the smooth curves of Valencias Oceanographic, I explored techniques such as pleating and cording as-well as hardware details within the silver of the eyelets and boning.

Alongside designing to introduce myself to the Construction a of corset I worked on a basic block provided to me, I had to overview this pattern checking seams to see the pattern is correct before a demonstration of construction, which is when I learnt the basic method. This gave me a good insight for my own method and was inspiring to start thinking of sewing techniques of ways I could adapt my design.
From this process I had generated my own design, which i began pattern cutting and it has taught me such strong pattern cutting skills. I was determined to put a cup in to the corset, which was a big challenge and took a few toiles to get correct however It built upon my pattern cutting skills and from this project alone I felt more confident and independent in adapting my own designs.
My Final design was a Cupped corset, which featured a front corded panel, slight contrasting thread, eyelet details on the boning. Paired with a Neoprene peplum belt and thong.
