Inspiration images by Reg Mombassa, an Australian artist who uses humor and a strong expressive line to communicate in his work.
My imagery reflects the prevalent desire for body augmentation and dissatisfaction with natural features in our modern society.
I experimented with skin tone coloring, and ultimately decided to use an orange hue for a fake tanned look.
The Drake lyric "Fake Love" adds to the message of the furniture piece which displays a scripted "tramp stamp" calling on the humor involved with social body displays.
Inspired by the Australian screen print artist Reg Mombassa and his humorous cartoonist style and political undertones, my butt chair addresses society’s obsession with body augmentation and popular culture's immodest expression of wealth. The cheap reproduction of a classic Chippendale style chair reflects my design and intention to expose artificial truths. The text is by popular artist Drake.
