Reptilia
Reptilia is a hand sewn molded bag inspired on reptile skin. Scales in reptiles are made of very tough keratin that protect them from injury and prevent them from losing water.
For this bag I wanted to create my own texture with carving tools, given we had to use thick vegetable tanned leather (6 oz). I imitated reptile skin by carving half way into the leather repeatedly without scooping it out completely. It is all sewn with brown waxed thread. The exterior of the bag is all painted with a dark brown color and the texture was made only to the flap and some parts of the strap.
