After discovering the visual history of The Arabian Nights through a course on orientalism, I fell in love with the work of artists like Edmund Dulac, Errol le Cain and Kay Rasmus Nielsen.

This illustration is an homage to them and other artists who have revisited and reinterpreted the Nights in their work. Using figures from Dulac and le Cain's work, my illustration introduces a new story to the collection, one of two brave and beautiful dancers spying on conniving courtiers at the behest of a loyal vizier who suspects his king and kingdom are in peril.
