Project 3: Story Narrative

the purpose of this project as to create an image either digital or non digital to tell a story. i always loved the story of beauty and the beast and specially the rose. the rose it self tells so many stories about so many lives, happy or sad. i decided to do a 2 layer painting and glass work with an image that i selected on internet 5 years ago.
i printed this image same size as my illustration board and used carbon paper to copy it accurately on the board. the first layer of this work which is the illustration board is painted in regular acrylic paint. i used dark and neutral colours to intensify the story also i painted the sky dark blue and i added snow so it would give the story a sad and cold meaning.

when i was doing the painting on illustration board at the same time i started doing the painting on glass. this was my first time painting on glass and it was  very challenging because i had to put more than 3 coats on it. while i was painting i used golden wires to out line the glass jar and the rose on glass. i used gorilla glue to mount it and my hands wre sticky and rough because its a very tough glue. mounting the wires was very very challenging and took a long time. specailly the smaller pieces which required a lot of focus and attention.
i used a blue for around the rose, green for the leaves and later on,on the stem, and rose pink and red for the rose it self. after i was done with pianting and mounting the wires i put 2 part resin on it to make it more 3D and shiny and protect the rose from anything. the resin took 24 hour to harden.

after the resin was completely hard and i did sometests on other materials to see how strong this resin is, i droped the glass to break and make the story more intense. it was definitely a risk that i took but the results are absoloutley stunning. before i show my final work im gooing to share my secret materials.

and now the final work.

i enjoyed doing this project very much. i could reflect on it because of all the things i or anybody else go through in their life. this work took definitely more than 72 hours and it was a comitment, once i decided todo it there is no going back. if i were to redo this project i would spend equal time on the background painting and the glass work. and i would definitely use more lighter blue.
