Persona
Understanding the User
After researching the target demographic, I came up with a persona to aid in designing effective solutions for the website. Without further ado, meet Lauren!
Lauren is a busy project manager who:
- Takes pride in being an early adopter
- Receives news from Internet, friends and family
- Believes in power of meditation to achieve mindfulness
Her primary motivations are:
- Career Success: wants to rise up the ranks in her job (by being mentally healthy)
- Reputation: wants to be the person who knows about the latest and greatest
- Serendipity: pursues new experiences and people

Font
San Francisco UI Text
Initially, I had 2 font choices for this website design, which were Helvetica Neue and San Francisco. SF was chosen because San Francisco takes all the strong points of Helvetica Neue and reworks it into a clean, modern, and more legible typeface.
This is because SF was designed for screens and is optimized for easy readability on a pixel based medium, unlike Helvetica Neue which emerged in 1983 when pixels did not exist yet.
SF also compliments the vibe of LUCID, which is meant to welcome the user to a calming experience. Upon closer inspection and comparison, San Francisco felt friendlier to the eye than Helvetica because SF is more widely spaced apart - the "e" and "c" have wider apertures for instance. This gives the impression that the text has room to breathe and does not feel cramped, ultimately creating a calming first time user experience.
