Road to El Dorado

The Road to Eldorado is a diorama visual merchandising project that I did for my visual merchandising class. Our challenge was to create a visual window that was inspired by Bergdorf Goodman windows and based on the spring 2013 collections of a fashion designer.

I chose Haider Ackermann, a designer who shows during Paris fashion week. I love his clothing because of its simple and classic way of forming to a woman's body.   His collection was based on his journey back to his home country of Bogota, Columbia. I was very interested in the Columbian style culture, and after much research, came across the idea of an El Dorado or Eldorado. The idea of the ancient city (the story's origin is based upon the Musica's, an indigenous tribe in Columbia) made of gold and unimaginable luxuries.

This  history generated my concept for these diorama windows which tell the story of a fabulous woman and her journey to Eldorado, adorned in Ackermann's collection.
Eldorado
"Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado"
