Experiencing Science Through Visionary Planning

under the direction of Santiago Piedrafita
Our first project in the fall semester of junior studio was to research, document and model an experience, thinking about it both as a user and a design expert. Under the category of "visionary planning," I chose to experience the Nature Research Center at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.

Within the new Nature Research wing of the science museum, there are a lot of new technologies being employed. There is a specific exhibit entitled Visual World iLab that uses many visionary systems and technologies. Among these technologies are touch screen and augmented reality based learning. By immersing myself in this technology, I started to think about how I could these concepts could be implemented.

By creating an interactive PDF meant to live on a tablet platform, the user can navigate my experience through the Nature Research Center through technology much like the ones I experienced. With the creation of an interactive space for the user to engage with, learning takes place on a more immersive level.
