The National Domestic Violence Hotline is a non-profit organization established in 1996 as a component of the Violence against Women Act (VAWA). Nearly 1 in 5 women (18.3%) and 1 in 71 men (1.4%) have been raped in their lifetime by any perpetrator. 1 in 4 women (24.3%) and 1 in 7 men (13.8%) aged 18 and older in the United States have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. This piece is a PSA created for the Hotline-The National Domestic Violence organization to increase knowledge and awareness about domestic violence. As a kid, I used to find and read the domestic violence news on newspapers. The technique I used for this project is collage to depict the damaged physically and emotionally bodies that lie within the pieces of newspapers.
