concept:
The redesigning of the G.C.C.P.F. is based on the shattered pieces of glass, which where found in the abandoned glass factory.
Through the design process, the glass becomes the symbolic material of the park; a connection between the past, the present and the future.

The study includes: a reception (main entrance), a salience of Themistokles’ tomb (Themistokleion), large green areas, cycling routes, observatory spots (Krakaris’ pier, canopies), an open-air theatre/ cinema, exhibition centres, a library, recreation places for young people & children, restaurants & cafeteria -bars,  administrative offices, two parking areas and a yacht marine with a repair shop.

reception
Next to the main entrance of the park, a ground level building will be built to host the reception. It will include a: reception, back office, staff WC, visitors’ WC, first aid office & an ambulance spot, bike hire store of 50 vehicles.

skatepark/ playground
The three-level building of electric power factory - D.E.I. hosts until today the machinery that was used in the past. Τhe restaurant and the bar that will be hosted there will be adapted respecting the building’s machinery. At the nearby area, specially modulated facilities will be constructed, such as a skatepark and a playground.

open-air cinema/ theatre
At the northeast side of the area, an outdoor theatre will be constructed, adapted to the ground inclination.
Also, the theatre will be transformed into an open-air cinema.

groyne - marine
The groyne’s design will include inclined wooden benches and levels, while the Themistokles’ grave will be featured in the back. More specifically, holes covered with glass will be made at the deck, showing the findings of the excavations next to the grave. Alongside the excavations, a glass bottom construction, covered with filtered seawater will pass through, transferring the sea in the park.

canopies and open-air sitting area
Their position gives the visitors the opportunity to enjoy the view of the park and the islands nearby.
Under the canopies, four long benches and bicycle stands will be installed.

glass factory
The exterior designing process will also be continued in the interior of the former glass factory of the G.C.C.P.F. Company, creating special routes, made by deck corridors. The glass factory will host artistic exhibitions and cultural events, respecting its characteristics and its history. Visitors can use the corridors for the better observation of the building, while presentations of the history of the factory will be made with the use of audio-visual technological means.
