Oceans Matter

The relationship between humans and the oceans is out of balance. Each year more and more plastic is finding it's way into the sea, turning the ecosystem on it's head. This is an ecological disaster, not only does plastic take a thousand years to break down (not kidding) but fish eat the smaller bits which ends up in the food chain, and you and me are then ingesting the nasty chemicals that come along with it, mercury being the major danger. To put it plainly, we've lost our harmony with nature and it's not looking good.

So how do you restore that precious balance? Andrew Simpson has found one way: instead of harvesting fish he's harvesting plastic. Then using patented technology to break the plastic down so the team can turn it into all sorts of wonderful and safe objects. And by all sorts we actually mean pretty much anything, from jewellery and shoes to chairs, cutlery and credit cards. Andrew and his team plan to team up with the biggest brands to use recycled plastic in some of our favourite products, thus closing the loop on plastic waste, cleaning up the oceans and turning the tide towards a better future.
