Casper - Great Sleep

Casper - Great Sleep
Had a blast working on this dreamy spot with the team at Oddfellows. It was great fun integrating live-action footage with 3D animation, which had a minimal, design-forward 2D aesthetic.
Role: 3D Animation
Studio: Oddfellows

Besides animating the scene, I also prepared it for animation. This included matching the 3D elements with the styleframe I received. After animating the scene, I rendered out a couple of passes of the different elements in the scene, in order to comp the scene and the live-footage together effeciently. After the live-action footage had been tracked and rotoscoped by Kevin Njoo, and colorgraded by Chris Kelly, I was then able to comp the final shot together.
Styleframe by Jay Quercia, for the scene I worked on.
The initial geometry I received. It was all stretched out, since the scene had previously been used for a shot that used forced perspective. From here, I worked on matching this scene with the styleframe from Jay. This required a lot of deformers and creation of new geometry, and a rig for the wavy floor was created by Chris Kelly. Plant geometry was then created later in the process by Colin Trenter, which I then animated with deformers.
Breakdown of the finished shot.
