This project was an exercise in marrying reclaimed or recycled materials with a modern aesthetic. I decided to utilize my woodworking skills to quickly fabricate a cabinet that would allow me to display some interesting grain, texture, and patina in the form of reclaimed wooden doors. The cream white color and minimal nature of the design help to create additional focus on the beauty of the upcycled lumber.
The same wood was used to make a sliding drawer, carrying the motif of the door to the interior of the cabinet. Using a french cleat system, this fully functional piece can be used in the home, trendy office setting, or modern shop as a wall mounted cabinet. The hand painted red cross adds a playful touch while bringing a sense of history to the piece.
