Years of radiation has caused sarcoptic mites to grow massive in size, burrowing into the head of their host and hijacking their brain to use them as their own suit of armor. A fairly common enemy in the vast open desert, mangy mutts like to roam in packs, acting in almost a hive-mind sense under the mites' control. When encountered, they tend to circle their prey slowly before one strikes, leaving an opening for the others to pounce.
