Birch Tree Collection

Travelling around London for the first time ever, I couldn’t help but become inspired by the colors around me. The houses on Portobello Road, the Impressionist paintings in the National Gallery and even the birch trees throughout the city all stood out with the same sweet, pastel colors. I took elements from the birch trees I had seen to create speckled and peeling textures. This natural feeling juxtaposed the light, warm colors that are not normally seen in nature in order to create a unique design collection. The fabric samples contain a variety of materials, including wood, foil, felt, and paper. Combined, they help simulate the natural, varying surfaces of birch wood. For application, these fabrics could be used for women's outerwear such as jackets and coats.
