Father Lacombe historic site icon

Father Lacombe was an important figure in Alberta History, so creating the icon was an important assignment. The Icon had to be able to be reproduced in various media and sizes and still work clearly, reducing the portrait to black and white.
This is a picture painted from my great grand father's civil-war daguerrotype. The original is black and white, so the colours come from comparisons. His jacket is Yanky blue, and his eyes are very blue like his grandson's. His hair dark brown with a hint of auburn, like one of his grand daughter's

Portraits of the cast and some fun with the type design, all hand drawn on illustration paper with pen and ink.
