Project Description:
Our project is to promote a certain artist that will come to the campus. They will give a lecture about their design experience. Thus, we have to create an advertisement in the form of gift wrap and poster. We should design our work based on the researches of our selected artist.

Louis Dorfsman is famous for his simple design style. He can make words looks like a graphic element. He understands how to use the element and principle properly and when to exploit it when it's necessary. Therefore, I made sketches that are focusing on the usage of letterforms.
Six Squares
In this piece, I try to make it informative, simple, and engaging. I use a checkerboard template because black and white are typical colors we saw in a newspaper. The third color I used is red. Red is so appealing to our eyes. Our eyes will automatically see the red color to create a stronger contrast. I combine six of element and principles of designs. I use Impact typeface because of its symmetry and equal stroke weight. Lastly, I have to pay attention to the balance between the positive and negative area throughout the composition
Gift Wrap
Poster
For the poster, I took the reference from one of the six squares. Empty space and contrast help the design to become more compelling. It helps the audience to grasp the information easily and hopefully get interested to come to the lecture.
