This is the second version of the Super Smash Bros. BattleCON game I posted in 2015. I actually stopped working on it about a year later, in October of 2016. I do think it would be nice to start updating this more soon, but we'll see.
BattleCON: Super Smash Bros. is a mixing of my two of my favorite games: BattleCON, a dueling board game inspired by fighting video games, and Super Smash Bros., a crossover fighting video game. Inpired by my desire to use Nintendo's amiibo figures in a physical board game, I set out to create a BattleCON version of Super Smash Bros. All the cards and components have been redesigned to fit with the video game's aesthetics and characters.
The board game is mostly a 1-on-1 fighting game. The original BattleCON system has a multitude of variants and game modes, a few of which appear here.
In the game, both players have a set of generic cards (bases) and character-specific cards (styles).
An attack is made by combining a style with a base, creating a unique attack for each character.
In addition to that, each character has a unique special ability, some of which involve extra pieces.
Here is the new board. It tracks the life and force points for each character, along with a beat (or turn) tracker and some quick gameplay references.
Thanks for looking! This was a pretty fun project. The characters are in no way balanced at all (I think Inkling is too strong and will probably be the first one I'll edit once I clean up some new templates). So hopefully there'll be a next time with even more characters.
