A new feature on the iPhone this year is fast charging. According to Apple, 50% charge is possible in 30 minutes. There is just one trap. That means you have to buy a new power adapter. Test Methods
iPhone X, 8, and 8 Plus all support fast charging of USB-C power adapters that conform to the new USB-PD (Power Delivery) specification. It is the same as the USB-C charge used in the new MacBook.
But the question is, how fast is this adapter compared to the adapter that comes with the iPhone and the 12W adapter included in the iPad. I also wanted to compare the charging performance of the older iPhone, which does not formally support USB-PD fast charging, on the new iPhone.
There are three products tested: iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 7 Plus.
The battery specifications of the iPhone 8 Plus and X are virtually identical. 8 plus is 2791 mAh and X is 2716 mAh, which is about 1% difference. The iPhone 7 Plus comes with a slightly larger 2900mAh battery. The difference is less than 8%, but even if the iPhone 7 Plus accepts the same charging power as the other models, it is a significant difference in that the buffering time is slightly longer.

Each product was exhausted until the remaining battery was 1%, and then set to airplane mode without running any apps to block background tasks such as app updates or photo sync. We then recorded the charge level every five minutes while charging with five test adapters.

Of course, you can buy another USB-C adapter, which is cheaper than the Apple adapter. Any USB-C adapter is okay if it supports USB-PD. There is also a $ 25 product on the market (not tested). Charge Speeds by iPhone Model

The results of the iPhone 7 Plus, which does not officially support USB-C fast charging, are interesting. When using the included 5W adapter, it takes about 3.5 hours to buffer.
