With this piece I wanted to step away from the subjects I had done previously and try something different. I also wanted to push myself with this painting and experiment with ways to add more skin detail as some of my previous paintings felt a little too “smooth”.

I could have spent a lot longer refining the skin creases, folds and pores but I was at the stage where I was happy with where he was, I didn’t want to risk over working it.
