On occasion of the release of Slanted Magazine #30—Athens, a limited special edition has been released which is exclusively available in the Slanted Shop. The edition contains a screen printed tote bag, designed by Blaqk, a photo essay by photographer Daniel Rupp and a risograph booklet, designed by Xenia Fastnacht, produced at the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe.

Tote Bag

The tote bag has been designed by Blaqk. Their works are a combination of graphic elements—calligraphic forms, letters, lines, geometric shapes, patterns, negative space, textures. They create impressive backdrops/murals with their artworks on a lot of surfaces like big walls in Athens and other cities. For Slanted’s special edition they produced an unique piece of art silkscreened on a tote bag.

Photo Essay – Athens

Athens—a city with a historical importance battered by the financial crises. Listening to residents one can hear a wide range of voices from very optimistic up to dystopian. Catching this contrarian mood was the idea of photographer Daniel Rupp for this photo essay. It gives a glimpse into the daily life of a city that has had a fundamental role for Europe.

Riso Booklet—Greetings from Greece

Since a few years, a new design trend seems to appear in Greece. The ancient aesthetics, history and traditions of the country serve as a source of inspiration, but are to be reinterpreted. More and more creatives are striving to show a modern Greek style and produce regional as much as possible.
This riso booklet is an excerpt from the diploma thesis “Greetings from Greece” by Xenia Fastnacht from the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe, in which she deals with the contrast between country-specific stereotypes and new creative approaches in Greece.
