Champions Academy

Client:
Champions Academy

Champions Academy is a private institution catered towards educating African American boys to become prominent leaders and nationally ranked scholars, who are customarily accepted into the best universities and IVY league schools.

When approached to rebrand their identity it was imperative to execute an identity that was both modern and academic in aesthetics with a reflection of the school’s traditional foundation. The logo design was generated first. The elements that would comprise the logo consisted of an Oxford cap, open book, and the initials of the school’s name – resulting in an academic crest of sorts. The Oxford cap represents the focus on scholarship for the school’s students while the open book is a traditional metaphor for learning. These elements combined would produce a crest form similar to a shield, referencing the traditional academic foundation of the school and a traditional metaphor for brotherhood.

Deliverables:
Branding  |  Marketing Materials  |  Brochure

After the logo was completed the design of the identity system as a whole was focused on. The system consisting of the stationary materials, marketing post cards and the information brochure was approached with a clean yet academic style utilizing the school’s colors of black and gold.
