Yggdrasil Basketball League Mock Rebrand Concept

Yggdrasil Basketball League- Mock NBA logo rebrand concept.
Current and past NBA and G-League team logos rebranded to match each of the 9 realms of Norse Mythology.
Yggdrasil Basketball League
Naturally, the league would be named after Yggdrasil "the World Tree" that connects all the realms of the Norse cosmology.
Asgard
The home of the Æsir(the Norse gods) is protected in most part by Thor- the god of thunder.
The color scheme and the name of OKC made it an easy selection for this rebrand
The secondary logo is an icon made up of both a lightning bolt and a hammer, which is Thor's weapon of choice.
Utgard (Jotunheim)
Utgard is the capital city of Jotunheim, the realm of the Giants. Giants have long been foes to the Norse gods and will be until the Norse Armageddon, Ragnarok. I chose a mixture of Boston Celtics logos for this one because of the simplicity of the vintage old character logo and the negative space of the more modern one. I used that negative space to add mountains for perspective.

Midgard
Midgard is the Earth in Norse Mythology. There is said to be a sea serpent that wraps around the entirety of Midgard, this serpent, "Jormungandr, or the Midgard Serpent" is so large that it fully wraps around the Earth with enough room that its tail is held by its mouth. I used a G-League team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers as the inspiration for this one because of the snake wrapping around the ball in the logo.
Muspelheim
This is the realm of the Fire Giants. The leader Surtr, has a flaming sword that will cause havoc during Ragnarok. This made the Cleveland Cavaliers an easy pick for this rebrand, because there is a sword in the logo, and the color scheme is fitting.
Nifleheim/Hel
This realm is the underworld of the Norse Mythology which accounts for 2 of the realms that are often merged together as Niflhel. Unlike most religions, Norse Hel is thought of as desperately cold instead of very hot. It also has a guard dog names Garmr. Garmr's fur is constantly covered in blood. The Minnesota Timberwolves were the obvious choice because the wolf in their logo has a likeness to Garmr, and like the Norse underworld, Minnesota can be a very cold place. Instead of the North Star, I have made an "H" that is replicated in the secondary logo.
Svartalfheim
This is where the Dark Elves, which are also known as Dwarves in Norse Mythology, live. They are the go-to craftsmen for the Norse gods. I chose the Dallas Mavericks for this rebrand because of the color scheme, and the usage of a silhouette for the shadow of the horse's head in the logo, which adds an ominous, dark, and cold detail.
Alfheim
The polar opposite of the Dark Elves, the Light Elves inhabit Alfheim. They are said to be "fairer to look at than the Sun."
I chose an older Washington Wizards logo for this rebrand, because of the magical nature of the wizard in it and the crescent ball would be easy to turn into a comparison to the Sun.
Vanaheim
This realm is the home of the Vanir. The goddess of beauty, Freyja, is said to have been sent to Asgard from Vanaheim along with her twin brother. The Vanir are known as a magical people that can see into the future. The New Orleans Pelicans were my choice for this rebrand for two reasons. New Orleans is a famous place for fortune tellers (thus Freyja in the logo is reading a crystal ball/basketball) and because of the gold color in the logo that translates really well to Freyja's famously gold locks.
