Slip into Something Comfortable

"Slip into something comfortable" (Collage)
"A look into stereotypes and expectations of women particularly focusing in the 50s and 60s.

With this project, I was interested in creating a journey through space and time simultaneously.  I created a three-panel collage in order to play with figure ground relationships, scale shift, overlapping, and one-point perspective. My inspiration came from a Woman’s Magazine produced in the 50’s and 60’s and novel called "Sexual/Textual Politics" (A Feminist Literary Theory) written by Toril Moi in 1985. I was interested in exploring the stereotypes and expectations of women through out time, but particularly in the 60's. I paired this idea of the “domestic woman” with the ideas of being underwater and/or being in outer space. These feelings, to me, are mysterious and strange.

Sidenote, I incorporated lights in the final project and that was pretty cool in my opinion :)
