Anti-Trafficking Poster

Introduction:
The project is centered around the social issue of human trafficking which affects every country in this world whether it is from migrant trafficking, sex trafficking, or drug trafficking. However, with this poster the two of us decided to focus on the human aspect of the social issue. We were tasked with making a poster that was not too depressing but still expressed the overall concept we were addressing.

Inspiration:
We originally drew our inspiration from someone being trapped by chains and them wanting to break out into the light. We wanted to utilize a silhouette but this proved to be horrible. However, we realized the words over the image could act as a chain restricting the human being or holding them in slavery. As we looked to do something with the words, our teacher Mr. Davis, provided us a link to an individual who provided the steps to accomplish the task.

Sketchs:
We originally wanted to do too much in the picture and failed numerous times with the sketches. First we wanted to have the individual look into a sunset or break the chains into the light; however, this proved to be quite difficult and looked terrible. Then we wanted to show the individual bound with chains but with light vs dark split between the individual. After numerous failed sketches we decided on the face covered with world.

Final Project:
After much failure and experimentation, we decided to go with this image. We felt there were still aspects of the original “chains” we wanted through the words covering and “restricting:” the individual. Likewise, the wording is composed of a poem regarding human trafficking. Also, in the bottom left of the project we were required to apply a organization who fights to combat this social issue. Thank you and feel free to appreciate!
