Minimalist Mobile Domicile

最小主義の移動住宅
The minimalist mobile domicile is a design experiment to apply the Japanese art of utilizing small spaces efficiently to a mobile home lifestyle. In Japan, people spend as little as possible on their home or apartment, for two reasons. One is, as everyone knows, because of a dense population with limited space on a small island. The other, lesser known, is because Japanese culture is anti-debt. While Americans, in fact our entire economy is based on a debt standard and the credit system, Japanese people rarely if ever buy things that they can not afford outright which usually results in extremely tiny apartments with clever compartments, entire walls of shelves and a bed, the largest piece of furniture in a bedroom, that folds up and gets hidden away instead of losing that space during the day. If this way of thinking appeals to you, I hope my design can inspire you on your path to finding a peaceful and balanced lifestyle.

Inspiration" memory foam futon unfolds into a couch.
A few things I guess need some explanation:

1) That couch is a futon made of memory foam that unfolds flat to sleep on, and during the day you fold it up into a couch so you can actually sit down either to have company over or to work on your laptop, watch a movie, eat or whatever.

2) I wouldn't leave the couch all the way at the back of the vehicle. I would move it up a foot or two and fill the back with storage cubby holes shelves and a place to hang clothes. Only the essentials. Most of your belongings would go in a rental storage unit.

3) The front seats would be pushed forward and fold up if necessary to give ample space for the bed and of course you can use curtains screens or tints for privacy.

4) The dash is not complete. I have a lot of ideas that I haven't been able to lock down yet for the interface for this car, the gauge clusters, infotainment, shifter etc. That stuff is coming with time and if I can figure out animation, I'll take the transparency off the body and actually model the doors and windows in detail and show them opening and closing.

The exterior takes inspiration from concept cars, Peugeot HX1 and Citreon Numero 9 MPV but I hope to really distinguish mine stylistically.
