Design proposal for 17thC Tavern in Manhattan

The brief was to create a 17th Century styled
Tavern and Restaurant with modern functionality
in downtown Manhattan, NYC.
This image shows the entrance along with the main bar area and additional seating for dining. The area comprises of a rustic aesthetic with worn timber flooring and slate flag stones. Traditional beer casks are used as divides and for tables in high seating areas. Diamond leaded windows are reintroduced as they were most common at that time.
The bar looks out on to an intimate seating area and then further on to the main floor area. Features include oak panelling, iron chandeliers, clay pips and literature for that era. Also copper beer taps are in use in keeping with the client brand aesthetic.
The main dining and restaurant area features a semi-open kitchen along with design features that include stained glass back lit ceiling panels, traditional delft tiles popular in the 17th century, a wine display wall and a variety of table tops and seating.
