Dyscalculia Calendar

Defining Practice
For this project I was set a brief to make a product that portrayed an interesting outcome to a topic I was passionate about.
I wanted to make a product that would serve a purpose and be of helpful use.
For this project I studied Dyscalculia. Dyscalculia is a difficulty and learning of numbers and mathematics.
Considering this, I wanted to make a daily scenario where numbers might be at play and cause an inconvenience to then be apprehended easily.
For primary research I had an interview with someone who has dyscalculia and she mentioned how dates are a problem in her daily life, therefore I created a calendar than can not only be of use and helpful to them and others but also using typography and design to highlight dyscalculia to everyone.
I integrated the use of numbers within my typography to highlight how someone with dyscalculia might become confused when faced with numbers.
I also used roman numerals to replace numbers as they're still essential to link with key dates but makes it recognisable in a different medium for someone with dyscalculia.
Each month has a specific constellation to match.
